The History of Lin’an Tea Factory:The Golden Years of the 1970s

Through the memories of veteran tea makers, we return to the 1970s, revisiting the golden era when Lin’an Tea Factory rapidly rose and exploring the industrial achievements of this Tea factory.

The 1970s marked a period of rapid expansion for the state-owned Lin’an Tea Factory.Beginning in 1970, the factory benefited from the opportunities of the era, steadily expanded its operations, and continuously increased its production capacity, laying the foundation for one of the most prosperous periods in its history.

The factory’s annual production exceeded 30,000 dan(a traditional Chinese unit of weight) in 1973 and surpassed 50,000 dan in 1975.By 1979, the factory had achieved a stable production scale of 4,000 to 4,500 tons, reflecting the factory’s rapid and steady expansion during this period.

During the export boom of the 1970s and 1980s, Lin’an Tea Factory became an important producer and exporter of green tea.The factory focused on green tea processing and refinement, maintained strict quality standards, and gradually increased its production capacity. As a result, large quantities of high-quality Lin’an green tea were exported overseas, contributing to China’s tea export growth and international trade development.

More than a production facility, Lin’an Tea Factory became a driving force for local development.Generations of tea makers devoted themselves to careful processing and quality control, expanding production and improving the competitiveness of Lin’an tea.Their efforts helped strengthen Lin’an’s tea industry and allowed it to remained resilient amid changing times.

A single tea leaf can hold the memories of an entire era.

Looking back on the 1970s, the state-owned Lin’an Tea Factory expanded its production, built its reputation through quality, and contributed to China’s tea exports. It not only witnessed the vigorous growth of China’s tea industry but also, through years of quiet dedication and perseverance, it became an important chapter in both Lin’an’s development and China’s tea industry.

As time moves on, the sounds of the factory floor have gradually faded into history. However, the legacy of Lin’an Tea Factory remains. The factory helped develop the local tea industry, supported farming communities, and brought Lin’an tea to overseas markets. Its story continues with the lasting fragrance of tea.

Yesterday, a client from Mongolia reached out to us through our official website. Alex had dinner with this guest traveling from afar. They talked about business specifics as well as life dreams, instantly clicking and feeling like old friends right away.

The next day, the client visited Zhiqinghe’s tea gardens and teahouse by invitation. During the garden tour, he got to know the whole process of matcha planting and hand harvesting. Back at the teahouse, Alex personally brewed tea for him, and prepared an exquisite tea set plus our signature tea varieties as thoughtful gifts.

Deeply touched, the client expressed his intention for long-term cooperation. We truly believe this bond forged by matcha will last gently and warmly, just like the lingering tea aroma. On our business journey, we cherish every meaningful connection and aim for long-lasting partnerships.

A group of guests from Norway visited our tea factory. Alex accompanied them from the tea farm to the production workshop, explaining each step along the way.
Back at the office, Alex laid out several grades of matcha and walked them through how each one is made and how the flavors differ. The guests readily tried brewing matcha by themselves. Soft tea steam curled up in the air. Everyone sat together, sipping green tea and chatting away in a warm, laid-back vibe.
